Given its constant interest in improving processes and optimizing the existing resources, DANE implemented a research project on low-income and non low-income housing in july of 2001, on the basis of the building census implemented in december of 1996 as a fundamental requirement for the calculation of the construction gdp, buildings subsector. the longitudinal panel statistical technique was used to carry out a detailed follow-up of the universe studied, over time. its objective was to establish the behavior and evolution of low-income housing (vis, according to its acronym in spanish), by following up on such variables as square meters, units, and sales price per square meter.
