¿when was the indicator created? In the second semester of 1997, dane started its research concerning private higher education costs ¿how is the reference basket established? Establishing the private higher education cost index required a base allowing for the determination of the structure of expenses in both goods and services acquired by the higher education institutions and shown in the profits and loss statement. therefore, in order to define the cost structure and the weighting system, a basic survey was carried out, focusing on the profit and loss statement for the year 1995 in each on of the institutions. For the production and dissemination structure, the same classification used in the unified accounting plan for the expenses entry was used. this leads t the assumption that the structure remains invariable over time or, at least, changes much more slowly than prices do. ¿where are the prices collected? for personnel expenses, the prices are gathered at 74 higher education institutions. for purchase of goods and services, prices are gathered in 115 establishments. ¿how many articles make up the basket? the basket is made up of 135 articles. ¿what is flexible level? flexible level refers to a structure subject to modification on the basis of a specialized economic and statistical analysis, which makes it possible to detect changes in the patterns used to follow up prices. . ¿what is the coverage? the index has nationwide coverage. ¿in what cities is the survey carried out? the survey is currently carried out in 11 cities: armenia, barranquilla, bogotá, bucaramanga, cali, cartagena, ibagué, manizales, medellín, pereira and tunja. ¿what are the reference months? april, for the first semester, and october, for the second semester. ¿what is the level of disaggregation? indexes and variations for the national total, groups, subgroups, and basic expenses, by types of private higher education institutions. results are presented for the national total. ¿what is the periodicity of the icesp? half-yearly ¿What series are available? June 1997=100.00 to date. |
