The purpose of CPC is to serve as an international standard in the collection and tabulation of various types of statistics that require detailed information on goods, services and assets; among which are included production statistics, statistics of intermediate consumption, final consumption and capital formation, foreign and domestic trade statistics, presentation of input-output tables or balance of payments, market analysis and production chains. It provides a framework for national and international comparison and promotes harmonization between statistics from different sectors of the economy.
