Population Projections

This section includes the technical documents regarding the projections carried out using the component method at the national and departmental levels, by sex and age, for the period 2006-2020. These projections were made on the basis of the adjusted results of the 2005 Census the 1985 – 2005 Census Reconciliation, as well as the analyses of the behavior of determinant variables of demographic evolution, hypotheses, and some comments on the results.

(*The Municipal Population Projections by Area -2005-2008 included here are the definitive result of applying various methods, depending on the availability of information and the geographic scale. For the departmental level, the demographic components was used, and the results were later disaggregated within each department using the semi-demographic “cohort relations” method, with the exception of the departments of Amazonas, Guaviare, Guainía, Vaupés and Vichada for which the residence relations method was used. In order to break down the population by administrative center, the participation of municipal administrative centers was projected with the help of the logistic function).
