Indicators of international initiatives

DANE is one of the public entities that works to enhance and fulfill multilateral agreements related to sustainable development. For this reason, the Entity performs the following functions:

 

  • Participate in defining the design and enhancing functionality of the monitoring mechanisms 
  • Provide technical support in formulating and calculating indicators 
  • Generate information products and data needed for their calculation 
  • Integrates the national inter-institutional team with the Ministry of Environment, Housing and territorial development (MAVDT) and the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (IDEAM), to generate reports

DANE participates in the following international initiatives

  • Latin-American and Caribbean initiative for sustainable development – ILAC

    This Political framework was established by the countries of the region for cooperation, exchange of experience and information, coordination, and identification of needs at different scales, involving the implementation of programs and regional projects of interest aimed at implementing the recommendations of the Agenda 21 in the framework of sustainable development.

     

  • Environmental Information System of the Andean Community of Nations – SIMA

    Environmental Information System -SIMA, the set of media provided by the Andean Community of Nations -CAN, to collect, classify, integrate, process, store and disseminate environmental statistics of the Member States, in order to serve as guidance for the formulation of environmental policies and agreement on sustainable development and environmental management policies in the Community. .

     

  • Statistical Yearbook of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean– CEPAL
    Environmental Information System -SIMA, the set of media provided by the Andean Community of Nations -CAN, to collect, classify, integrate, process, store and disseminate environmental statistics of the Member States, in order to serve as guidance for the formulation of environmental policies and agreement on sustainable development and environmental management policies in the Community.

     

  • Millennium Development Goal 7 – MDG 7
    The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) constitutes the plan that commits all nations and the most important development institutions worldwide to reduce extreme poverty, and the abject and dehumanizing conditions to which more than one billion of people were subjected in the year 2000.

    This alliance formed at the United Nation’s Millennium Summit in September 2000 set forth eight goals, aiming to achieve 21 quantifiable targets by the year 2015.
